Can Feliz designed by architect Jorn Utzon was primarily built for himself and his wife Lis after twenty two years living with his family on the island of Mallorca. It appears the location is remote lying inland beyond a small town called S’Horta between the sea and the fertile land. The villa is situated just 10 kilometres from the sea staggered along the Cliffside. He describes the place as his secret altar as he quotes, “This place is my altar. This is where, with the deepest respect, I face nature, and with the greatest passion, contemplate the sun and the land in front of me". Utzon describes his love for platforms as it enables us to see the connection of the building and the site. His idea was to capture most of the island scenery as he highlights his deep attachment to he island.
Through utzon's work we see the contras of both past and present as he blends in elements of nature and past together. His two goals consits of emphasising a 'new regionalism and a new monumentality'.
